Gary Myers, 59, of Salmon, Idaho passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Jones & Casey Funeral Home with viewing one hour before services. Burial will be in the Salmon Cemetery.
Gary Cooper Myers was born on Nov. 24, 1954 in Salmon, Idaho, the son of Gilbert and Jeanne Myers. In 1964 Gary moved to Fort Hall with his father and sisters. He moved to Blackfoot where he worked at the Idaho potato plant.
He was united in marriage to Brenda Smith on Nov. 20, 1981. They made their home with her two daughters Wendy and Brandie and their new little sister Karri. They later divorced. Gary moved to Sun Valley for a bit and then to the Brainerd, Minn. area to be close to his sisters Krystal and Karen. He was employed at D.H.Y. metal fabrication plant.
He met Loretta Porter and they were married in 2001. Together with her daughter Donna and their son Matthew they made their home in Minnesota and moved back to Salmon in 2002.
Gary worked as a landscaper and for area ranches. He worked for the last several years in the kitchen at Bertram’s Restaurant. In his spare time, Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, singing and playing his guitar.
He is survived by his wife Loretta Myers of Faribault, Minn.; mother Jeanne (Larry) Banta of Salmon; four daughters: Wendy Smith and fiancé Troy Aldous of Caldwell, Brandie (Mike) Thompson of Blackfoot, Karri (Eric) Penoyer of Blackfoot, Donna Hernandez and fiancé Bobby Whitlock of Salmon; son, Matthew Myers of Ririe; 10 grandchildren: Jesse, Katie, Jordan, Riley, McKenzie, Alyssa, Jakeup, Ashley, Shasta and Cortney; five sisters: Gwen Gilbert of Idaho Falls, Jayne (Lyndon) Mickleson of Blackfoot, Krystal (Elton) Crist of Salmon, Karen (Rick) Black of Challis; Leilone (Dan) Hooper of Moyie Springs, Idaho; four brothers: Tom (Debra) Palmer and Blair (Lori) Gilbert, all of Pocatello, Gilbert C. (Debbie) Myers of Rapid City, South Dakota and Orvial Myers of Magna, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother Gilbert and Delores Myers and two brothers Norman Myers and Layne Banta.
