General Mills sells Idaho grain operations

Morning News — Leslie Mielke Agspring has signed a purchase agreement with the General Mills' grain operations in Idaho. This is the grain operation in Blackfoot.

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS — Agspring announced on Feb. 27 that it has signed a definitive purchase agreement to acquire the General Mills’ grain operations in Idaho.  The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The transaction is expected to be completed before the end of May 2014.
The General Mills' grain operations in Idaho are in Newdale, Blackfoot, American Falls, Rockford, Idaho Falls, Pocatello and Schiller Siding.
Agspring will focus on improving efficiency and expanding operations including increasing elevator storage and handling capacity in Idaho. Operations will continue to be managed locally, while that team will benefit from corporate support, national supply chain planning and financial backing from Agspring headquartered in Kansas City, Kansas.
"It's exciting for us," said Brad Clark, president of Agspring. "We were at the Sho-Ban Convention Center on Thursday. We were up in Idaho to meet with leadership, employees and farmers.
"We are thrilled with the quality of people and farmers," he said. "We are excited for our partnership.
