Harold Clifford Valentine, 90
Harold Clifford Valentine, 90, of Blackfoot passed away Friday, July 8, 2011, at his home from causes incident to age.
He was born Aug. 16, 1920, in Ainsworth, Neb., to Harold Randolph Valentine and Eva VonLear Keech.
He attended school in Ainsworth, Neb., and was an All-State player in football and basketball.
Cliff served on Treasure Island in California in the Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He then hopped a train and made his way to Idaho and then later to Los Angeles, Calif. He lived in Southern California, before moving to Groveland, Calif. In 2003 he came to Blackfoot to be near his family.
On Aug. 9, 1942, he married Irene Julietta Bremers in San Leandro, Calif. Cliff became a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1952. One year later their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple on June 27, 1953.
He served as a branch president in Groveland, Calif.
He was president of the Pasadena Chapter of Barber Shoppers of America and was active in various real estate organizations.
Harold was founder and owner of Valentine Real Estate Company in southeast Los Angeles, Calif.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, storytelling, playing the piano, singing and making fishing rods. He was very organized with his color coding system; always favoring red.
He is survived by wife Irene of Blackfoot; sons, Jim (Linda) Valentine of Blackfoot, John (Kathy) Valentine of Pasadena, Calif.; Jerri (Bob) Myers of Sacramento, Calif.; and daughter-in-law Doris Valentine of Kaysville, Utah; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Jeffrey; sister Ardeth; a very close friend, Dr. Roscoe Bigler; grandson Wesley; granddaughter Sherilynn; and granddaughter and her husband, Tara and Chad Denning.
Cliffâ€™s goal in life was to make everybody smile.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling in Blackfoot. The family will greet friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service Thursday.
Interment will be in the Groveland Cemetery where final military rites will be presented by American Legion Stewart Hoover Post #23.
