Helen N. Hansen, 86, of Blackfoot, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family members and the help of Creekside Hospice.
She was born Jan. 9, 1926 in Blackfoot to Paul Novasad and Suzie Kralik.
Helen lived in Idaho Falls, Moreland, Salt Lake City, Utah; and most of her life in Blackfoot. She graduated from the eighth grade at St. Margaretâ€™s Catholic School.
She married Frank Lusher Hansen and he passed on Feb. 8, 1964. She later found her companion, Howard Yanski, who brought her great joy and happiness. He also preceded her in death in November of 1974.
She was a member of the Catholic Church.
Helen worked in Idaho Falls and Salt Lake hospitals until the early 1950â€™s, then worked in the potatoes, retiring in 1991 from Basic American Foods in Blackfoot.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, handiwork, gardening, puzzles, crossword puzzles and the time she spent with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Andy J. Hansen of Blackfoot, Steve (Diane) Hansen of Blackfoot, Jeanne Hansen of Arco, Mary Ann Findlay of Blackfoot and Debbie Capson of Blackfoot; sisters, Ann Moses of Blackfoot; five grandchildren, Lang Hansen, Trudy Evans, Stephanie Hamilton, Nick Capson, Andrea Findlay; and four great- grandchildren, Ambrea Evans, Destiny Capson, Micheal Evans, Craig (Little Jo) Evans
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, Andy â€śBudâ€ť, and William â€śBillyâ€ť Sparks; sisters, Margaret Howell and Loretta Forsmann; two grandsons, Craig W. Hansen and Alain W. Hansen.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot.
The family will meet with friends on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Moreland Cemetery.
