BLACKFOOT — The Idaho Doctors' Hospital has been recognized as one of the top health care facilities in the country for patient satisfaction.
Press Ganey Associates, Inc. has named the Idaho Doctors' Hospital as a 2011 Summit Award winner for inpatient patient satisfaction. It is one of 98 organizations to receive the honor in 2011 and one of 87 to be recognized for achieving and sustaining excellence in patient satisfaction.
Idaho Doctors' Hospital—an eight-bed facility with two operating rooms—is a partnership among four doctor-owners, Bingham Memorial Hospital and Bingham County. The doctors focus on neurosurgery and spine surgery.
The staff works to ensure patients are comfortable—from pain management to putting fresh flowers in their room after surgery.
"We've put in a lot of work over the past three to four years to make sure this is the kind of place people want to be," Nursing Supervisor Nathan Buck said. "Our goal is to take care of patients in the best way possible."
Patient Larry Anderson had spinal fusion surgery Monday and was very pleased with the care he has received at Idaho Doctors' Hospital.
"It's been very comfortable here," Anderson said. "My stay here has been excellent."
Dr. Clark Allen, chief of staff at Idaho Doctors' Hospital, said since opening in 2007 their focus has been on providing the best care for their patients, and they use the Press Ganey patient surveys each month to determine which areas need improvement.
"As an organization that has made great efforts to put patient satisfaction as our number one goal, it is gratifying to see that our efforts have resulted in this kind of recognition," Allen said. "This is a testament to our entire staff and the lengths they go to every day to make sure our patients' needs come first."
Press Ganey partners with more than 10,000 health care facilities, including 50 percent of all U.S. hospitals to measure quality of patient care.
