Idaho Falls defeats Blackfoot in season finale

After battling through four tough quarters a couple of defensive lapses in the final two minutes of the game saw another game slip away as Blackfoot fell 61-54 to Idaho Falls Friday night.
After a layup by Taylor Pearson tied the game at 50-50 with 1:19 left in the game, Idaho Falls went on an 11-4 run to build a nine point lead the Blackfoot would never recover from.
The difference in the game was the Idaho Falls defense in the third quarter. The Tigers clamped down on the Broncos low post game and frustrated all three of Blackfootâ€™s post players.
The frustration for Blackfoot continued during the quarter as open look after open look rimmed out harmlessly.
Idaho Falls held the Broncos without a basket for the final four minutes of the third quarter and led 40-33 entering the fourth.
McKye Watt tried his best to single handled bring Blackfoot back in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter scoring 10 of his team-high 19 in the quarter including a span of eight straight points to cut the Broncos deficit to one.
But a pair of dunks by the Tigers Connor Cammack and the post play of Brayden Andrus were the difference in the final eight minutes.
The first half was close the entire time and neither team could get there shots to fall, while both defenses were feeling each other out.
But on senior night for the Tigers were ready to get their third win of the season and the Tiger faithful was ready to watch it happen.
Watt led the Broncos with 19 points, Pearson added 10.
Blackfoot opens 4A District 5/6 Tournament play on Tuesday at Rigby.
