Thursday was day two of the Indian Relay National Finals. The races will continue today with the finals on Saturday at the Eastern Idaho State Fair.
The Indian Relay is a thrill to see. It's a quick sport with plenty of spills and unexpected turns. One of the handlers was bowled over by a horse and rider as the team was coming out of the starting partition.
Twenty-four teams are competing in this year's finals. Ten of these are home teams.
These teams will split a $50,000 purse.
To get to the finals, teams have competed on Tuesday, Thursday and today. On Saturday, three races will be run—consolation, championship and ladies.
Seven teams will run in consolation and seven will run in the championship race. Ten ladies' teams will run in the ladies race.
