Iva Lee Osborne, 83, of Fort Hall passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.
Iva Lee was born Feb. 6, 1929 in Fort Hall to James Osborne Sr. and Jesse Sequints. She was a lifelong resident of the Fort Hall Reservation. She attended school at the Fort Hall Indian Mission and the Stewart Indian Boarding School in Carson City, Nev.
She was a retired teacher's aide from Tyhee Elementary and was a wonderful homemaker. In her free time she enjoyed salmon fishing, family gatherings, stick games, Bingo, beadwork, hides and was an avid sports fan and big supporter of Indian Relays. In her younger years she also enjoyed horse riding.
Iva Lee is survived by her sons, Nathan (Karen) Small and Sidney (Juanita) Farmer; daughters, Lorenda Diane â€śShindaâ€ť (Bob) Monsisco-Clark, Virginia May Monsisco, Darla Jo Farmer-Morgan and Wendy LaRue Farmer; and two grandsons she raised, Donavan Lee Osborne and Desmond L. LeClair; 18 grandchildren, Sheldon Small, Daloa Small, Nathaniel Uphawk Small, Creston Kindness, Jennifer Kindness, Sheryl Farmer, Swayer Farmer, Stephen R. Farmer, Sterling P. Farmer, Sydney J. Farmer, Julius O. Morgan, Courtney M. Morgan, Quinine J. Morgan, Taylor C. Thomas, Joilee Thomas, Myke M. Moore, Alexandria T. â€śSummerâ€ť Linton and Graciela Ramirez; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jesse Osborne; daughter, Jennifer Monsisco; brothers, Malden Osborne, Clyde Osborne, Enos Osborne, Franklin Osborne, Orrin Osborne, Floyd Osborne, James Osborne Jr. and Dwight Osborne; and sisters, Louida, Flora, and Minerva Osborne.
Iva Lee will be taken to her home at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012 on South Bannock and East Agency Road. She will remain there until her funeral service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot. Then she will return to her home until Traditional Native American Burial will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Gibson Cemetery.
