Jack Schild, 76, of Blackfoot, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at The Gables Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls. He was born Dec. 27, 1933, in Pocatello, to Henry Schild and Ruth Lanham Jefferies. Jack attended school at Tyhee Elementary and Irving Jr. High in Pocatello.
On Dec. 31, 1956, he married Wilma Doris Dear in Elko, Nev. Doris passed away in 1973, and in 1976 Jack married Renae Richardson in Blackfoot. Renae helped him finish raising his five children.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jack was a member of the Eagles Club, Salt Lake City Senior Bridge Club, Salt Lake City Golf Club and the Blackfoot Elks Club in earlier years.
He worked as a salesman for Valley Equipment, then spent several years with Culligan, where he went on to win numerous awards. Jack also spent several years working for Cham Furniture and then later in life established his own furniture business where he was self-employed.
In his early years he spent much of his time in rodeo, as he was a true cowboy through and through. In 2010, Jack was inducted into the Idaho Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame for his many achievements on horseback.
He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Mabel Moffett of Salt Lake City, Utah; sons, Todd Henry Schild of Couer dâ€™Alene, Idaho, Carter Rand Schild of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughters, Jacque Elizabeth Schild Moravek of Idaho Falls; Shelly Ruth Schild Besana of Roseville, Calif.; step-children, Nichole D. Siebert of Pocatello and Mike Santoianni of Yakima, Wash. Family members of Mabel that Jack was very close to include Rexa Marie Moffett of Bozeman, Mont.; Rita Holmgren of Williamington, N.C.; Robin David of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Jeremy (Natalie) Horton of Sandy, Utah. Other survivors include brother, Bob Schild of Blackfoot; sisters, Betty Ruth Higbee of Mackay; Shirley Ann Davis of Arbon; BJ Christiansen of Clayton, N.C.; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Doris Dear Schild; his parents; sons Willard Lawrence Schild and Kenny Schild and daughter Linda Schild.
A visitation and short service will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling in Blackfoot.
Cremation services will follow the viewing and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at email@example.com.
