Jay Dee Beasley, 73, of Blackfoot, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at his home.
He was born May 9, 1938 in Blackfoot, the son of Wiley Glenn Beasley and Helen Eliza Bond.
Jay has lived in the Blackfoot area his entire life. He graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1957 and later pursued his schooling as a journeyman electrician. He was a Journeyman Electrician for over 50 years. He also worked laying hardwood floors in homes for a short time.
On Sept. 19, 1958, he married Carla Herbst in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married for 53 years.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Thomas 4th Ward.
Jay served eight years in the US Army Reserve.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Carla of Blackfoot; children, Clay (Meg) Beasley of Pingree, Shane (Dawn) Beasley of Shelley, Lance Beasley of Blackfoot and Steffanie Beasley of Blackfoot; sisters, Beavaughn (Floyd) Lefler of Grace; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Pat Lee Beasley and Monte Dennis Beasley and a sister, Larien Reader.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012 at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery with Bishop Tracy Hawker conducting.
The family will meet with friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
