Jean Marie Giest, 67, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.
Jean was born April 27, 1947 in Yakima, Washington to Clyde Russell Kingrey and Ruby Jean Schonewill.Â She lived her entire lifetime since her youth in Blackfoot, attending grade school in Idaho Falls and graduating from Blackfoot High School.
On April 16 1971, Jean married Bruce Giest in Blackfoot, Idaho. Â
Jean was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, and was actively involved in the faith unit, church council and helping with the fair booth and blood drives.
She was a past president of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (I.A.A.P.) and elected outstanding member of the year.Â She was a charter member of the Twin Buttes Chapter of I.A.A.P. and had worked as a professional secretary for Basic American Foods.
In her free time she enjoyed shopping, collecting bears, especially enjoyed being involved with her family and friends.Â She never met a stranger for more than five minutes.Â And loved to travel to the Oregon Coast.
Jean is survived by her husband, Bruce of Blackfoot; son, Travis Geist of Blackfoot; Ginger (Jake) Weaver of Meridian; her father, Clyde Kingrey of Moses Lake, Washington; sister, Linda (Delbert) Walters of Moses Lake, Washington; brother, Jerry (Cheryl) Kingrey of Moses Lake Washington.
â€¨She is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby; daughter, Wendy; and brother, Russell.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1110 Parkway Drive in Blackfoot.Â Family will meet with friends and relatives for one hour prior to services at the church.Â Interment will follow at the Grove City Cemetery.Â Arrangements are under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot.
