Joann Chavez Chapman, 53, of Twin Falls and formerly of Blackfoot ,passed away Jan. 14, 2013 at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Twin Falls.
She was born Jan. 29, 1960 in Hamilton, Mont., the daughter of Ernest M. and Janie C. Chavez.
She attended school in Blackfoot and graduated in 1978.
Joann resided in Twin Falls and also in Mesquite, Nev., and in Wisconsin.Â She was married to Tom Ternus in 1982 and later divorced.Â Â She married her companion of 22 years, Richard Chapman on Sept. 25, 2012 in Twin Falls.
Joannâ€™s greatest joys were spending time with her grandchildren, children and family.Â She also enjoyed singing, dancing, gardening, camping and taking drives through the desert in her Jeep.Â Joann will be greatly missed for her positive influence about life.
Joann is survived by her husband, Richard Chapman; sons, Daniel Ernest Chavez and Emilio Rey Chavez; one daughter, Sara Gene Ternus; parents, Ernest M. Chavez and Janie C. Chavez; brothers, Ernie (Alayne) Chavez, Alfred (Marlana) Chavez, Emilio (Lori) Chavez, Robbie Chavez, and Bobbie (Elisa) Chavez; sisters Lupe (Carlos Lopez) Wadsworth, Lisa (Matt) Barnard, Janie (Darin) Watt and Anna(Christopher) Anderson; 11 grandchildren
and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Alfred and Julia Chavez, maternal grandparents, Raphael and Concepcion Casias, Uncle Jesse Chavez, Aunt Mary Gage, Aunt Ezula Alejandres and Uncle Emilio Casias.
She was a member of the Catholic Church.Â Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday: Jan. 19, 2013 at the St. Bernardâ€™s Catholic Church.Â Â Family will meet with friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home.Â Cremation will follow the services.Â Condolences may be sent to the family at email@example.com.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Bernardâ€™s Youth Foundation.
The family will be meeting at the Emilio Chavez residence: 686 W. 10 N., Blackfoot, from now until the time of services.
