John LaMar Call, 81, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014 at his home.
He was born Dec. 29, 1932 in Chesterfield, Idaho the son of John Balfour and Una Bowman Call.
John grew up in Chesterfield, Blackfoot and Idaho Falls, graduating from North Gem High School in 1952.
He served in the United States Army in Germany from 1954-1955.Â He was honorably discharged in June 1962.
He married Barbara Jean Ellis on July 31, 1959 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.Â They were later divorced.Â On Oct. 25, 1993 he married Clara Birchell in Blackfoot, Idaho.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He worked as a baker, route superintendent and driver.
John enjoyed fishing, hunting, working, watching baseball and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Clara of Blackfoot;Â children, Lance (Nancy) Call, Jodie (Kip) Gardner and Troy (Christie) Call, all of Blackfoot;Â Steve (Angie) Jackson of Nampa, Idaho; Gabe (Tiffany) Jackson of Boise, Idaho; Jared (Tammy) Jackson of Wood Cross, Utah; Michael Jackson of Blackfoot;Â 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Martha Jeanine (Clarence) Rogers, one grandson, Austin Troy Call.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Blackfoot 2nd Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Colin Cook conducting.
The family will meet with friends on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Interment will be in the Chesterfield Cemetery.
