Jose R. Olmos, 76, of Firth, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Bingham County Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Blackfoot.
He was born July 15, 1936 in Aguas Calientes, Zacatecas, Mexico to Juan Olmos and Nicolasa Ibarra.
Jose was raised in Mexico and then moved to Blackfoot in 1971 with his family.Â He eventually moved to Firth where he was living at the time of his death.
On August 13, 1976, he married Acension Hernandez in Rigby, Idaho.Â She preceded him in death on December 10, 2000.
He was a member of the Catholic Church.
He worked as a laborer in Agriculture at various jobs.Â
Jose enjoyed fishing, traveling to Mexico to visit family, family barbecues, teasing family and friends and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Refugio Olmos of Shelley, Idaho, Jose Olmos of Visalia, California, Pedro Olmos of Blackfoot, Idaho, Miguel (Melissa) Olmos of Boise, Idaho; daughters, Rafaela (Raul) Jimenez of Blackfoot, Idaho, Margarita Olmos of Tulare, California, Amelia Torres of Firth, Idaho, Eva Olmos of Blackfoot, Idaho; 32 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Acension, sons, Martin and Juan and daughter, Reina and one grandchild.
A funeral mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. Bernardâ€™s Catholic Church.
A vigil service will be held 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho with the visitation to follow until 7:30 p.m..
Cremation services will follow the service.
