Jovita R. Torres, 82

Jovita R. Torres, 82, of Firth passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at her home.
Jovita was born Nov. 17, 1931 in Crystal City, Texas to Juan and Antonia Rodriguez.  She grew up in Texas with her three sisters, Marcela, Bertha  and Olga.
In 1950 she met the love of her life, Moises Torres, and would bless him with nine children.  Together they traveled around from state to state, working and raising their children, finally making Firth their family home in 1957.
Grandma had a heart of gold and never turned anyone away if they needed her help.  She adored her children and grandchildren.  Anytime you stopped by for a visit, she loved telling you about the latest activities her grandchildren were up to.
Grandma loved to dance and in her day, you could find her and her sister Marcela dancing their night away.  In the warm weather, Grandma loved taking care of her flowers and working in her garden.  The only thing Grandma loved more than her family is when we were all together laughing and joking.
Grandma was the rock of our family and kept us going strong.
Jovita is survived by her children, Olivia (Ken) Wernette of Firth; Richard Torres of Seattle, Wash.; Morris (Carol) Torres of New Mexico; Noemi (Fred) Sandoval of Missouri; Paul Torres of Seattle, Wash.; Joe (Banica) Torres of Idaho Falls; Joel (Kallena) Torres of Idaho Falls; Victor Torres of Shelley; and Benny (Penny) Torres of Firth; sisters, Bertha and Olga of Texas.
Grandma leaves behind a legacy of 38 grandchildren; 67 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Moises; oldest grandson, Kenny Wernette Jr.; and grandson, Nicholas Sandoval.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot.  Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
Interment will follow at the Shelley Cemetery.
