Katherine Pauline Giest, 93, of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at The Willows in Blackfoot.
She was born March 12, 1918 in Dickinson, North Dakota, the daughter of Martin Hegel and Rosalia Ehly.
Katherine was raised in Dickinson, and in Fromberg, Mont., where she received her education.
On March 12, 1936, she married Jonathan â€śPeteâ€ť Giest in Montana.
She has lived in North Dakota, Montana, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, California and has lived in Blackfoot since 1956.
She was a member of the Jason Lee Memorial Methodist Church.
Katherine was a cosmetologist and worked in Blackfoot for many years.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening (she never had a weed), crocheting, golfing and needlework.
She is survived by her son, Bruce (Jean) Giest of Blackfoot; daughter, Peggy (Edwood) Bullock of Chubbuck; sisters Mary Schwalger of Great Falls, Mont., and Genevive Keller of Billings, Mont.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; daughter, Mary Ann; brother, Bud; sisters, Madge Shephard, Rose Sticka, Elizabeth Steffan, Veronica Hall and two infant grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot.
The family will meet with friends for one hour prior at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
