BLACKFOOT — Things just got tighter at the top of the High Country Conference girls soccer standings as the Blackfoot Lady Broncos worked their way to a 0-0 tie with the visiting Lady Bees on Thursday afternoon.
"They did a lot better job today than they did last game in terms of marking up and stuff," Blackfoot head coach Scott Stufflebeam said. "We didn't have people flowing through the defense as much and that is better. We still aren't there. We still aren't as tight marking up on the defensive side that we need to be but it was an improvement which I am glad to see."
Both teams had scoring opportunities in the game but a combination of great goal keeping and a pair of collapsing defenses took those opportunities away nearly as quick as they developed.
"We started the first half a little flat, not as focused as we should be but after a chewing at the half and they played better in the second half," Stufflebeam said.
As the game wore on the level of physical play increased as both teams looked for that elusive game winning goal.
"I expect that with most teams," Stufflebeam said. "None of these teams are going to be pollyannas in skirts and be nice and polite because this is a very physical game."
Blackfoot (4-6-1, 4-4-1) will close out their regular season next Tuesday afternoon as they bid a fond farewell to their seniors before taking on Madison at 4 P.M.
