BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Lady Broncos snapped a 7-game slide at home on Tuesday night as they beat the Lady Indians of Pocatello 42-34.
"I saw a lot of enthusiasm tonight," Blackfoot head coach Mike Kirkham said. "The kids believed in themselves, they wanted this one real bad and they refused to be denied."
Desperate for a win, the Blackfoot squad indeed came out with a lot of energy, opening the game on a 9-2 run.
Pocatello was able to climb back to within 1-point at 17-16 to close the half but that was as close as Pocatello could get due in large part to a 17-point third quarter by the Lady Broncos.
Cerissa Honena knocked down a trio of 3-point baskets in the quarter as Blackfoot opened up a 10-point bulge.
With the win the Lady Broncos improve their season record to 2-7 and will be back in action Thursday evening when Bingham County rival Shelley comes too town for a 7:30 tip.
"Hopefully these girls will be able to keep that enthusiasm into the Shelley game because Shelley is a good team," coach Kirkham stated.
