Lady Panthers lock up top seed with win
The Snake River volleyball team celebrates a straight set victory over Marsh Valley on Wednesday night. The Lady Panthers will be the top seed in next weekâ€™s 3A Fifth District tournament.
THOMAS â€” For the five senior on the Snake River High School volleyball team Wednesday night's regular season finale against Marsh Valley was not only senior night and the chance to lock up the top spot in next week's 3A Fifth District volleyball tournament, it was also the final time the group which has played together since fourth grade would play together at Snake River High School.
After a pre-game ceremony with introductions, gifts, a song and some tears the group and the rest of the team took care of business on the floor.

The Lady Panthers took down Marsh Valley in straight sets 25-11, 25-12, 28-18.
Already up two sets, Hannah Murdock, Brylie Bair, Kylee Orr and Billie Gibson looked back at Max Shelley who was standing ready to serve to start the final set and said "This is the last set, let's make it count."
Head coach Shelli Van Orden echoed those sentiments when she told the team "Let's go out with a bang."
While it did not go as easy as the first two, the Lady Panthers were able to get some big plays down the stretch too earn the win.
Murdock had three straight services aces to give Snake River a three-point lead at 9-6.
Marsh Calley battled back to tie the score at 9-9. A service error by the Eagles gave Snake River a 10-9 lead, a lead they would never relinquish.
Between the power hitting of Shelley and Bair and the defense of Murdock the Lady Panther closed out the match.
The Lady Panthers control of the match started from the opening point of the match.
Marsh Valley had no answer for Bair and Shelley allowing the Panthers to roll through the first two sets.
Bair finished her final home game with 17 kills and eight digs. Shelley added six kills and six digs and Murdock had 17 digs.
Snake River finished their district schedule undefeated and earned the top seed in the district tournament next week.
The Lady Panthers open the district tournament on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at American Falls against a to be determined opponent.
