Larry J. Young, 62, of Blackfoot passed away Monday, March 7, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Larry was born Dec. 13, 1948, in Rexburg to Melvin J. Young and Gayle Evelyn Nave. He lived his early years in Idaho Falls until he moved to Blackfoot where he attended junior high and high school. He graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1968.Â
After graduation, Larry joined the Air Force and lived in Texas during his service. He returned to Blackfoot after his service in Texas and, except for a short time from 1980-1983, when he lived in Wellington, Utah, he lived in Blackfoot.Â
On Oct. 17, 1970, Larry married Sandra Adams in Blackfoot. Their marriage was later solemnized on June 30, 1979, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they had eight children, Lori, Rebecca, Michelle, Michael, Jacob, Chris, Matthew and Katlyn.
Larry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various capacities.Â
Larry went to school to become a draftsman and worked in that field upon completion of his schooling. However, his true joy was found when he was behind the wheel of a big truck. He drove long haul for a time but was primarily employed as a fertilizer delivery man and worked for various fertilizer companies, including Wilber Ellis and Western Farm Service. In his free time he enjoyed shooting and target practicing with his guns, hunting, fishing, aviation and riding motorcycles.
