LaRue Youd, 87 of Aberdeen passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at The Willows in Blackfoot.
LaRue was born July 2, 1924, in Aberdeen to Paul Dean King and Sabra Norean Kendall.¬† She attended grade school in Aberdeen and went on to college at Albion State Normal School.
LaRue married Byron Andreason, June 16, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.¬† He preceded her in death in 1945.¬† She later married James Keith Clayson, Nov. 1, 1948 in Bend, Ore.¬† They were later divorced.¬† She married Garth Youd, Jan. 17, 1958 in Las Vegas, Nev.
LaRue was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in a variety of callings including visiting teacher, Primary teacher, Young Women‚Äôs leader, youth camp director and dance director.¬†¬†¬†¬†
LaRue was a school teacher in American Falls for a short time and over the years worked many odd jobs from direct sales in cosmetics, clothing, and furniture to chief cook and bottle washer for the Aberdeen School District and State Hospital South.¬†She also worked with her husband Garth to raise hogs and was the first female inducted into the Idaho Pork Producers Hall of Fame.
In her free time, LaRue enjoyed quilting, gardening, yard work, and oil painting.¬† She was also a member of the Aberdeen Art Guild.
LaRue is survived by her husband, Garth; daughters, Joy A. (John) Swapp, Lynda (Myrlin) Maynard, Kathleen (Dean) Andrus, Norene (Dean) Shelman, and Janel (Mike) Mitchell; siblings, Max (Ilene) King , Howard (Norma) King, Beatrice (Waynard) Jensen, Koral Robinson, Maurice (Nancy) King, Roma (Robert) Stevens, Veryl (Karen) King,¬† 32 grandchildren and 78 great-grandchildren.
LaRue was preceded in death by husband Byron Andreason, her parents, son Paul Clayson and brother Lowell King.¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012 at the Lakeview LDS Church with Bishop Layne Harker conducting.¬†The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 - 8 p.m. on Monday Feb. 13, 2012 at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church.
¬†Interment will follow at the Springfield Cemetery.¬†
