Late score lifts Broncos to homecoming win

BLACKFOOT â€” Colby Pearson hauled in a six yard touchdown strike from Trae Pilster with :30 remaining on the clock on Friday evening and the Blackfoot Broncos emerged victorious in their homecoming game with a 27-22 victory over the Madison Bobcats.

The touchdown was quickly followed by a catch by Gabby Maldonado who scored the two point conversion, making the final score 29-22.
The Broncoâ€™s hosted the Bobcats in what was not only Blackfootâ€™s homecoming game it was also the continuation of the annual Buck Bowl, as brothers Stan and Mitchâ€™s teams faced off.
â€śIt is always a good game between us, we kind of just throw the records out and try to play a good game,â€ť Blackfoot head coach Stan Buck said.
The first quarter was a little slow in the scoring as it ended with 0-0.
Blackfoot received the ball and Pearson ran 27 yards for a first and ten.
Later in the game, after Madison gained the ball James Wislodowski intercepted a Madison pass with 4:32 left on the clock, putting the Broncos on their own 6 yard line.
In the second quarter Madison had the ball but with 11:19 on the clock Cody Evans intercepted again for Blackfoot, and the Broncos started on Madisonâ€™s 26 yard line.
Then, with 8:48 left Carlton Moore cashed in on the turnover as he ran for a touchdown and a good kick from Luis Oseguera, put the Broncos on the board 7-0.
The Bobcats reciprocated with a touchdown two minutes later tying the score at 7-7.
With 3:41 left in the half, Moore ran for another touchdown and with another good kick the Broncos took the lead,14-7.
The Broncos held Madison on fourth and one taking the ball over on downs with 1:03 left on the clock, and Blackfoot ended the half with the 14-7 lead.
Colton Dance ran 20 yards for a first down with 9:25 minutes left in the third quarter. Then when there with 5:27 left on the clock and the Broncos facing a fourth and one Trae Pilster croke loose for a 35 yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 21-7 Blackfoot.
While Madison had the ball again it was quickly taken away by Pearson as he intercepted the ball, but the Bobcats came back with 3:48 left and scored a touchdown 21-14.
At 9:31 on the clock in the fourth quarter, Pilster threw the ball to Pearson who then ran it 33 yards. Madison was able to get the ball back and with 1:39 on the clock they made a touchdown and a two point conversion, 22-21 Bobcats.
Blackfoot came back at 1:29 when Jeremy Leavitt made a first down, and the Broncos were able to move the ball back down the field to Pearson and Maldonado who made the winning points 29-22.
â€śWe had a lot of good things tonight. We had opportunities to fight back and we did. Defense bent a little and the penalties hurt us, but they did do good because we had three interceptions. And we had good turnovers to,â€ť Buck said.
The Broncos take on the Rigby Trojans next Friday at Rigby, game starting at 7.
