LeRoy Del Brooks, of Blackfoot, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 at his home from emphysema.
He was born July 31, 1938 in Cascade to James Henry and Lois Marvel Prest Brooks.Â He spent his early years in Council, later moving to Prairie City, Ore., with his family.Â He graduated from high school there.Â Following graduation he joined the United States Navy, being stationed in New London, Conn.
Throughout his military career he was stationed in Newport News, Virginia and Blackfoot.Â He received extensive career training while in the Navy.Â After retiring from military service he returned to Blackfoot and has resided here since.
On Jan. 9, 1960 he married Jennie Lawana Anderson in Pocatello.
While in the Navy he was a nuclear reactor operator, an electrical engineer on submarines and worked at NRF for 20 years.
LeRoy loved spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing, especially on Palisades Reservoir and the Snake River.Â In his later years he enjoyed traveling with his wife and tinkering in his shop.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Jennie; children, Curtis (Charmaine) Brooks of Boise, Bradley (Belinda) Brooks of Nampa,, Lawana (Glenn) Rowley of Heber City, Utah; Penny (Michael) Alveizon of Boise and JoAnn Brooks of Blackfoot; brothers, Freeman Brooks of Payette and Raymond (Patsy) Brooks of Rosalia, Wash.; 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home.
The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 and again for one hour prior to service at the funeral home.Â
