Leslie Owen Bailey, 65, of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011, at
Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello after suffering a major heart attack.
Leslie was born Sept. 1, 1945, in Van Buren, Mo., to Ralph Roy Bailey and Margaret Helen Liebst Bailey. Leslie was raised in Van Buren and lived throughout Missouri until moving to Blackfoot in 2001.
On Nov. 10, 1967, Leslie married Shirley Faye Trammell in Randolph, Mo. Together they had seven children.
Leslie was an ordained minister of the United Pentecostal Church and began pastoring in Brookfield, Mo., in 1986. He moved to Blackfoot in 2001 and started the Apostolic Lighthouse Church. He also served as Presbyter of Section 3 of the Idaho District within the United Pentecostal Church International.
He was a prankster who liked practical jokes, hunting, fishing and reading. He was a general handyman who could do about anything. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
Leslie is survived by his wife, Shirley of Blackfoot; sons Randy (Kerri) Bailey of Mt. Home, Ark.; Andrew (Krystal) Bailey of Cassville, Mo.; and Brandas (Carmen) Bailey of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; daughters Lisa (Will) Dougherty of Mill Spring, Mo.; Vercinia (Brad) Reed of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; LaWanda (Jim) Parker of Blackfoot and Erica (Manuel) Portillo of Blackfoot; brothers Ralph Bailey of Osage Beach, Mo.; and Richard (Ruth) Bailey of Stockton, Mo.; sisters Dorothy (Ray) Atteberry of Lebanon, Mo.; and Nadine Osgood of Columbia, Mo.; and 24 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Joel Daniel Parker.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at The Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 19 Donâ€™s Way in Blackfoot. Family will meet with friends and family from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at the Grove City Cemetery.
