BLACKFOOT — Fifteen talented individuals performed on stage Saturday night at the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center, holding their own against the three professional broadway actors they trained with the previous day.
The performance and workshop was part of a fundraiser sponsored by the Blackfoot High School class of 1968. At the end of the performance, Gail Johnsen, the woman who organized the fundraiser, presented a check totaling $22,000 to new BHS Principal John Pearce. The money will be used to purchase a new three-line digital LED display board to replace the existing marquee, which is 45 years old.
Johnsen's son, Clark Johnsen, and two other Broadway veterans—Nathan Balser and Heather Pond—hosted a workshop for 15 talented individuals in Blackfoot. Saturday night they showcased their talents through song, dance and monologue performances.
Those participating in the workshop and performing Saturday night were Tiffany Casselman, Erin Bowdren, Brock Sponenburgh, Savannah Williams, Logan Lindholm, Molly Merrick, Joni Merrick, Raven Flynn, Ted Christensen, Rebekah Williams, Gail Johnsen, Amy Moser, Elise Moser, Emily Gardner and Hannah Torres.
