In a whimsical tale self-titled after a "certain family member's" nickname, local author Geraldine (Gerry) Mathias presents her new children's book: "The Tale of Strawberry Rose," just released in December.
Mathias who has lived in the Riverside area for 44 years, said she has been "a closet writer" for many years and that retirement has afforded her time to work on writing projects that have been "swirling around in her head for years."
"The Tale of Strawberry Rose" is the story of four-year-old Strawberry Rose, who loves to shop but has to play shop at home. With her little dog Spotty at her heels, she stuffs things that she finds around the house into small paper bags and stores them in the closet.
Whenever anything is missing, her parents search through the loot. However, one day Strawberry Rose's daddy's wallet is missing and she gets the blame and she must work to prove her innocence and reveal the real culprit.
