Local man sentenced for injuring his daughter

A Blackfoot man was sentenced Monday on one felony count of aggravated battery and felony injury to a child with bodily injury. This felony involved his baby daughter.
Fernando Lee Naranjo, age 33, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery and injury to a child on April 7. Tuesday he was sentenced.
The healthy baby girl was born Nov. 19, 2013, said Bingham County Prosecutor Cleve Colson. On Jan. 18, 2014, her father beat her bad enough to cause seizures and traumatic brain injury.
The child had a brain injury, retinal hemorrhaging, bruising and broken bones. She now has seizures.
The child's foster mother is Serena Lynn Mendez who has been taking of the child since March.
"The vision in her left eye is starting to come," said Mendez. "There has been surgery on the right side of her brain to take off fluid.
