BLACKFOOT â€” Marianna Molinari of Blackfoot is one of six shooters from Idaho who have qualified to participate in the Junior Olympics National Championships in April.
Molinari and the others from clubs in Blackfoot, Boise, Post Falls and Twin Falls earned their spots through their finishes in the recent State Junior Olympics competition in Twin Falls.
Winners at nationals in Colorado Springs, Colo., could receive invitations to be on the National Development Team which competes internationally.
Molinari won the Womenâ€™s Air Rifle competition with a score of 371, edging Casey Lutz of Meridian by a single point. Chani Lohnes was third at 362.
Molinari was the bronze medalist in the Three Position Smallbore (3P) competition with a score of 460. Randi Loudin of Coeur Dâ€™Alene won with 524 and Lohnes took the silver with 517.
Mitchell Van Patten of Meridian won the Menâ€™s 3P with a 561 with Hayden Quilter second at 521 and C. Connelly third at 249.
Van Patten and Quilter were first and second in Menâ€™s Air Rifle with scores of 582 and 535. Ethan Bauer was third at 459.
Rachel Cantrell of Twin Falls won the Womenâ€™s Air Pistol title with 319 with A. Alexander second at 300 and Molinari third at 235.
Wyatt Brown of Twin Falls won the Menâ€™s Air Pistol title with 542 with Daniel Cantrell at 459 and Ethan Bauer at 423.
Molinari, Van Patten and Brown will be making the trip to nationals again. The others qualified for the first time.
