Madaleen Shaffer Andrew, 79

Madaleen Shaffer Andrew, 79, Chubbuck, passed away, Monday night, March 4, 2013 at a local medical center. Madaleen was born May 29, 1933 in Inkom, Idaho to Enoch Edward and Olive Virginia Jones Shaffer. Mom married the love of her life, Benny R. Andrew, on Sept. 23rd 1950, together they had 8 children. Dad passed away Feb. 20th 1984. Mom, later in her life, married R D Palmer in 2005. Mom enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and working in her yard. Mom took great pride in her home, her yard, and especially in herself. She always looked the best. Mom took great pleasure in traveling, camping in Island Park, especially at the Shaffer Family Reunions, and spending time with her family. Mom loved and took great joy in watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events, she was their greatest fan. Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many organizations, The Relief Society, The Young Womens and The Primary as president for many years. Mom served as a Temple worker in the Idaho Falls Temple and also served a mission for the LDS Church in Nauvoo, Illinois. This experience was a great highlight of her life. She enjoyed genealogy and her ancestors. Mom loved serving her Lord. Mom was a member of the DUP and loved attending those meetings and lunches with the Sunshine Girls.Mom was such a fun mother and grandma. She especially loved Christmas and always made the holiday extra special. She was always starting a new adventure. Mom was very involved in her childrens' lives. She also served in the PTA for many years. Madaleen is survived by two sons and three daughters, Steven L. Andrew (Sandi), Pocatello, Rae Lene Jenson, Blackfoot, Shauna Bodkin (Stuart), Blackfoot, Angela Van Sickle (Jeff), Pocatello, Michael Andrew (Lacey), Pocatello. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 12 siblings, her husband, son, Nathan Andrew, son, Benny W. Andrew, daughter, Melessa K. Mumme, and Grandson, Dustin Bodkin. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Inkom LDS Ward Chapel, 973 North Rapid Creek, Inkom. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Friday evening and one hour prior to services at the Church. Interment will follow services in the Inkom Cemetery.
