Margaret Johnson Heaps Hansen, passed away May 1, 2011, six weeks before her 96th birthday.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 17, 1915, to Carl Gunner Johnson and Hilma W. Wallin Johnson.
She grew up and attended school in Pocatello. She also attended Idaho State College.
She taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in Grays Lake.Â She also taught in Pocatello.Â â€śSister Heapsâ€ť as she was know by her seminary students, taught in Pocatello.Â She was the first release time female seminary teacher for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She married Roy W. Hansen on Aug. 27, 1966.
She is survived by her children, LuanaÂ Heaps (Gerald) Cluff, Melvin A. (Tamra) Heaps, Ronald N. (Beverly) Heaps, Nancy Heaps (Gary) Havin, Dennis (Cathy) Hansen, Nadine Hansen (Stanley) Poulson, Sharon Hansen (John) Shaw, Rose Marie Hansen (David) Johnson, John (Darlene) Hansen and Julie Hansen; 55 grandchildren and 115 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Thelma Myler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Hansen, her parents, two sisters and one daughter, Janice.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday May 7, 2011, at the Kimball Ward Chapel (744 North 600 East) in Firth. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and from noon-12:40 p.m. before the services at the church.Â Interment will be in the Firth Cemetery.
