Maria Isabel Rodriquez Sanchez, 56, of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at Bingham Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. She was given eight months to live over nine years ago.
She was born Aug. 6, 1955, the daughter of Jacob and Adell Rodriquez.
As a child, Maria and her family traveled around working seasonal jobs where Mary met her husband, Jose Ramos Sanchez. They were married in 1971 in Blackfoot, Idaho where they made their home.
Maria was a member of the Catholic Church.
She enjoyed singing, camping, shopping, BBQâ€™s, liked to be fashionable and in style and spending time with her family. She was always helpful to others.
She worked for NonPareil, then Basic American Foods for 10 years before being diagnosed with cancer.
She is survived by her husband, Jose of Blackfoot; four daughters, Rosie (Emilio)Trejo of Blackfoot, Graciela Sanchez ( Sergio Gonzalez) of Blackfoot, Maricruz (Juliano)Castro of Boise; son, Jose( LaDean Buckskin) Sanchez Jr.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jacob and daughter, Sylvia Sanchez.
A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 at St. Bernardâ€™s Catholic Church.
A rosary service will be held 6 -8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
