MARIA JUANA SANCHEZ

Maria Juana Sanchez, 65, of Blackfoot, passed away Nov. 23, 2012 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah following an extended battle with liver failure.
Maria was born on June 24, 1947 in Armadillo De Los Infantes, Mexico to Genaro and Sara Sanchez.  She was raised and educated in Mexico. 
On May 18, 1965 Maria married Pablo Sanchez in Armadillo De Los Infantes, San Luis Potosi, Mexico and together they had 10 children. 
In 1972, Pablo and Maria immigrated to the United States and settled in the Blackfoot area a short time later.  She went to work for Nonpariel in the early 1980's and retired in 2010 after approximately 30 years of employment.
Maria was a member of the Catholic Church.  She liked to crochet, knit and watch novelas.  She loved to shop with her daughters and especially enjoyed shopping at Costco, Rossand TJ Maxx.  A simple pleasure that Maria enjoyed was eating McDonald’s French fries with buffalo sauce.  She liked spending time with her immediate family and enjoyed dining out together.  She especially cherished the opportunities she had to visit extended family members in Mexico.
Maria is survived by two sons, Juan Antonio (Mari) of Idaho Falls and Jorge Alberto (Martha) of Phoenix, Ariz.; five daughters, Sara (Alvaro) Zarate of Blackfoot, Alicia (Zac) Deloera of Blackfoot, Jesenia (Jacob) Thorpe of Salt Lake City, Utah; Jenni (Gerardo) Cuevas of Blackfoot, and Erika Sanchez of Phoenix, Ariz.; three brothers, Jose (Ana) Sanchez of Blackfoot, Luis (Anna) Sanchez of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Refugio Sanchez of Brownsville, Texas; three sisters, Antonia Sanchez of Woodburn, Ore.; Maria Angela Sanchez of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and Licha Sanchez of San Luis Potosi, Mexico; 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. 
A rosary service will be conducted at 6: p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling, in Blackfoot, with viewing continuing after the rosary until 9 p.m.  A funeral mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
