Marilyn Fackrell Barrus, 76
Marilyn Fackrell Barrus, 76, of Firth passed away Tuesday, Nov.15, 2011 at
her home. She passed away peacefully with her sweetheart by her side.
Marilyn was born March 23, 1935 in Blackfoot to Parsons LaMonde Fackrell and Ida Marie Hansen. She attended school in Blackfoot.
On June 11, 1952 Marilyn married LaMar Noble Barrus in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they had six children, Kanin, Guy, Nanett, Steven, Jeffrey and David.
Marilyn and LaMar lived many different places over the years, including, Pingree, Burley, Roberts, Basalt, Wapello, Island Park; Wardon, Mont., and Blackfoot.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as the Primary and Young Women’s President and in numerous other callings. She was instrumental in bringing the Cub Scouts to Basalt.
Marilyn co-owned Barrus Well Drilling in Firth; she worked as a bus driver and at Idaho Supreme as a lab tech. In her free time she enjoyed oil painting, tole painting, crafts, quilting and being creative. She loved babies, little children and spending time with her family and her sweetheart.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, LaMar of Firth; sons, Guy LaMar (LaDell) Barrus of Basalt, Steven LaMonte Barrus of Mills, Wyo.; Jeffrey Noble (Rebecca) of Firth, and David Michael (Tracy) Barrus of Firth; daughters, Kanin (Ron) Butler of Shelley and Nanett (Bert) Pincock of Rexburg; brother, Jerry Dean Fackrell of Boise; sisters, Jackie Rupe of Boise and Paulette Cullen of Star; 23 grandchildren, 46 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Chip LaMar Barrus and great- grandson, Pete Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov.18, 2011 at Wapello LDS Chapel, with Bishop Dansie conducting. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov.17, 2011 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
