Mary Louise Chapman, 91
Mary Louise Chapman, formerly of Blackfoot, passed away on June 20, 2011, with her family at her side. She will be remembered as a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Mary Louise and Lorna Faye Morse were born on Sept. 8,
1919, in Cedar Hill, Idaho. During their formative years, the twins were inseparable. Being a twin was very special to both of them and they cherished their special relationship throughout their lives.
Louise married Thomas Lyon Chapman, Jr., on Oct. 26, 1936. After their marriage, they lived in Holbrook, Idaho, and Gunnison, Utah, before moving to Blackfoot in 1943. Together they had three daughters.
After Tom passed away in 1964, Louise continued to reside in Blackfoot for many years where she owned and operated The Cottage Coiffure Beauty Salon and apartments on Broadway. In the late 1980s she moved to Washington State to be near her daughters. She lived in both Spokane and Puyallup, Wash., until 2006 when she moved to the Reay Adult Family Home in Lacey, Wash., where she resided until her passing.
She is survived by two daughters: Mary Reay (Alton) of Federal Way, Wash., and Gayle Ann Tate (Harlan) of Spokane, Wash.; six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Chapman, Jr.; daughter, Karen Faye Chapman; grandson, Thomas Chapman Tate; mother, Bessie C. Morse; father, Richard J. Morse; brothers, Barnett and Farrell Morse; and, her sisters, Lorna Roy, Maurine Henrichs, Afton Sundquist, Emma Errett, Pearl Robinson, and Gladys Sager.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 12 to 12:45 p.m. prior to services the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Grove City Cemetery. There will be a reception following the graveside services at the American Legion, 436 North Fisher Street in Blackfoot. Condolences may be sent to the family at email@example.com.
