Mellissa Yellowhair, 26, a lifetime Fort Hall resident, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at home surrounded by family following an illness.
Mellissa was born June 2, 1987 in Blackfoot to Rick Yellowhair and Donna Devine. As a child she attended Blackfoot Elementary and Junior High. Mellissa graduated as valedictorian from the Sho-Ban High School in 2005.
She was a member of The Native American Church.
Mellissa worked as a supervisor at the casino and then was the banker at the Fort Hall Casino.
She loved everything to do with the outdoors including salmon spearing, rafting and camping. She had a great love of music, eating out with friends and family, and going to the movies.
Mellissa is survived by her parents, Rick Yellowhair and Donna Devine, of Blackfoot; a brother Devon Devine, of Blackfoot; sisters, Angel Devine, of Blackfoot, and Nevaeh Devine, of Blackfoot,; her grandmothers, Alice Yellowhair, of Blackfoot, and Gladys Ashkie, of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Camelita M. Crow; grandfather, William Devine; great-grandfather, Ray Crow; great-grandmother, Alice George Crow; grandmother Priscilla J. Crow; grandmother, Agnes Larkin; grandmother, Mae Yellowhair;Â two nephews, Randy Rodriguez and Christian Romie Silk; and a cousin Brooke A. Yellowhair.
Mellissa will be take to the family residence at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 19, located at South Riverton Road and Nagisty Road. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Sho-Ban Jr./Sr. High School.
Following the prayer service, Mellissa will be taken back to the family residence and will remain there until the time of burial which will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Gibson Cemetery.Â
