IDAHO FALLS-The crowd went wild as the final buzzer sounded of overtime, as Blackfoot’s Keith Moore connected a silky smooth jump shot gaining the Broncos a 72-70 win at Skyline on Wednesday night.
“That was my first time with a buzzer beater and I can’t even describe the feeling. It is just a great feeling,” Moore said. “I would like to thank my parents for always supporting me in everything I do.’
When the Broncos faced off against the Grizzlies Wednesday night it was a fight to the finish. Blackfoot went out in the fourth quarter 11 points behind. The Broncos made 25 points and Blackfoot’s defense held the Grizzlies to 15 points. With only 29 seconds left Trae Pilster made the game tying point, 62-62.
“Geez, you could just call them [the team] the cardiac arrest kids,” Blackfoot head coach Dan Hale said.
In the first half of the game the Broncos were able to make it to the lead at the end of both quarters. Not backing down from the Grizzlies they passed the lead back and forth a few times in the first quarter before taking a 17-15 lead. During the second quarter both teams were able to make 13 points as Blackfoot held their two point advantage at the half.
Skyline took a ten point bulge after three quarter of play setting the stage for the dramatic fourth quarter and extra frame.
“This game was a total team effort. The starters which were the four seniors and Paul and then the kids that came in off the bench, they all played great,” Coach Hale said.
Moore finished the night with 26 points and was followed by Pilster with 20 points.
“We had a heck of a game from Keith and Trae tonight. I just can’t say enough about the seniors,” Coach Hale said.
Blackfoot (8-11, 2-7) will close out the regular season when they face off against the Bonneville Bees Friday night on Blackfoot’s home court for senior night, game time at 7:30.
