Olive VonNiese Stringham Munson Johannesen, 83

Olive VonNiese Stringham Munson Johannesen, 83, passed away at a local care facility on June 20, 2014 in Blackfoot, Idaho.  
She was born October 14, 1930 in Bone, Idaho to Platte Lyman and Ruby Ann Jones Stringham. She graduated from Moreland High School in 1948.
On March 22, 1949 VonNiese married Donald Ross Munson. They had four children, Dennis Platte, Lelend Ross, Donna Jean, and Edwin Von. Don passed away in 1996.    
She lived in many small communities around Southeast Idaho, but primarily the Rose area most of her life, raising her children on the farm she and Don bought there. She worked in various positions, the longest as office staff at Blackfoot Appliance and Furniture for over 20 years.   
After Don’s passing she was married to Carl Johannesen, where they spent the rest of his life as husband and wife at the home in Rose. Carl passed away in 2012 and she shortly after moved in with her daughter Donna.
VonNiese was always active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held positions in the Mutual, was a Sunday School and Beehive teacher, the Relief Society and other groups. She visited or attended at least 26 temples throughout her lifetime and worked at the Idaho Falls temple for over 30 years. She always loved the work she did for her church. She spoke of being the first Cub Scout Den Leader in the Rose Ward when they started the program there and a Relief Society teacher for 40 years as well.
She is survived by her children, Dennis Platte of Blackfoot, Donna Jean of Blackfoot and Edwin (Jennifer) of Las Vegas, NV; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and step-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Platte and Ruby Stringham; husbands, Donald Ross Munson and Carl Andrew Johannesen; brothers, Haven, Ray, Kay, Jerry and Stanley; and sisters, Louise, Helen and Glenna; and a son, Leland Ross.   
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Rose 3rd Ward LDS Church, 403 North 150 West in Blackfoot. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at the Moreland Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com
