Anthony "A.J." Camp, 24, of Firth, was shot in the back while driving in the area of the 500 block of W. 20th Street in Idaho Falls approximately 3 a.m. His car, a white Honda Civic, struck a parked car, then a house on the next block, according to the Idaho Falls Police Department.
A female passenger received minor injuries from the collision. Both were transported to East Idaho Regional Medical Center by ambulance, where Camp was pronounced dead.
Idaho Falls Police say the events that led to the shooting began as a disturbance between the victim and at least two other subjects in the parking lot of Super 8 Motel. One of the suspects produced a handgun, causing the victims to flee the parking lot in their vehicle with the suspects giving chase.
Shots were fired in the area of the 500 block of W. 20th Street. Camp's vehicle continued east on 20th before colliding with a parked vehicle.
The Idaho Falls Police Department named two persons of interest in the homicide. Jayson B. Burns, 22, was arrested Tuesday afternoon by the Idaho Falls Police for two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the shooting death.
A second person of interest is Geoffrey S. Elawadly, 23. He is described as a Hispanic male with a shaved head and brown eyes. He is 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds.
Elawadly is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If anyone sees or knows where he may be, they are urged to call the police.
