Panthers cruise past Beavers 70-41

THOMAS — Take a look at just the score of Snake River's 70-41 victory over American Falls Friday night and it would easy to assume that the Panthers were in control from the opening tip.
For a quarter and a half that was far from the case.
The winless Beavers got hot from behind the three point line and the Panthers made their fair share of turnovers to allow the Beavers to stay close.

But it was a 12-0 Panthers run over the final minutes of the first half that finally got the Panthers rolling on their way to the victory.
Trailing by 10 after one quarter the Beavers, who had taken about a dozen three point attempts in the opening quarter and only connecting on one, the Beavers hit their first three of the second quarter and in the span of less than two minutes found themselves trailing by one.
After brad Coombs layup the Beavers would score just one more basket before the 12-0 half ending run began.
The key to the Panthers run was the play of Curtis and Kade Keller in the low post, the duo scored eight of the 12 points during the run.
Snake River went into the locker room leading 31-18.
After struggling shooting the ball in the opening 16 minutes, the Panthers continued their aggressive play driving to the basket.
With no one on the floor able to defend Curtis Keller the Panthers continued to build their lead getting layup after layup. Keller and Coombs scores 11 points in the third quarter.
After extending the lead to 30, Snake River head coach Bob Coombs emptied the bench with the starters get a roaring round of applause.
The youngsters scored the last five points of the game.
Coombs led the Panthers with 18 points, Keller added 16 points.
Snake River (15-3, 4-0 3A District 5) travels to Bear Lake on Wednesday.
