AMMON — The Snake River Panthers took to the Hillcrest ball diamond on Thursday for a high noon showdown with the fourth seeded Canyon Ridge out of the western division. At the end of a rapidly paced affair, the Panthers came out on the short end of a 3-0 contest.
"We just had a couple of instances where we lost our focus a bit," Snake River head coach Tom Strickland said.

Kaden Schmitt got the nod on the hill for the Panthers and the Shelley product turned in a performance which was more than good enough for the win as he scattered 3 hits over his 6 innings of work.
Unfortunately, a third inning in which the Panthers committed a trio of fielding miscues led to Canyon Ridge plating 3 base runners.
"Kaden did a great job. He did everything that we asked of him today," Coach Strickland said. "If he would have just gotten a little support in the field this could have been a totally different game but that's baseball."
Snake River came out quickly as Trey Serr and Shane Parkinson each reached base to open the top of the first inning. Unfortunately a rare triple play erased both base runners and that let down carried over as the Panther bats went silent for the remainder of the afternoon with Cash Cardona collecting the only base knock that the Panthers recorded after the opening stanza in the top of the fourth inning.
"We put the bat on the ball but it was just a case of the ball being hit right at them," Coach Strickland said. "I think that if we come out tomorrow morning and focus on making the plays in the field and concentrate on making good contact at the plate that we will okay."
Snake River will take to the field this morning at 9 A.M. as they take on the Pocatello Razorbacks who lost their second round game with Bonneville 7-3. The game will be played at Bonneville High School. With a win, Snake River will advance to a possible match up with Blackfoot at 3 P.M.
