Keegan Keller drives to the hoop during Snake Rivers road win at South Fremont High School on Thursday evening.

ST. ANTHONY — The Snake River Panthers shook off a sluggish third quarter and mounting foul trouble, coming from behind for a big 50-47 road win over South Fremont on Thursday evening.
"We were able to hit some big free throws at the end when we needed them," Snake River coach Kendall Keller said. "You know, anytime you can get a win on the road it's a big win."
Playing in the middle of the holiday break can always be an adventure but Snake River came out strong, taking a 23-16 lead into the locker room at the half.
Out of the break, South Fremont came out strong however, taking advantage of foul trouble by the Panthers to take a 36-34 lead into the final stanza.
"South Fremont came out really aggressive in the third quarter and really took the game to us," coach Keller said. "We were real sluggish and sloppy. We had a couple of kids get into foul trouble which made us have to sit some kids."
Undaunted by the Cougar comeback, Snake River battled back in the fourth quarter as sophomore Cole Rushton turned in one of his best games of the year.
"Cole played a real good game tonight," coach Keller said. "He was able to knock down some big shots when we needed them."
Rushton finished with 8 points on the night as he supplemented the team leading 18-points of Candon Watt. Keegan Keller was also key in the win with 11-points from the point guard position.
Snake River (6-1) will open conference play next Thursday when they travel to Marsh Valley for a 7:30 tip off against the Eagles.
