Derick Lee Perry, 32, appeared before Seventh Judicial District Judge Stevan Thompson on Wednesday for a change of plea hearing. He pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault, a felony, and will be sentenced at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23.
Thompson ordered Perry to have a new pre-sentence report and to apply for drug court.
Perry signed a non-binding plea agreement on Feb. 23, 2018.
"Do you know what a non-binding plea agreement means?" Judge Thompson asked.
Perry said, "It means you are not bound to agree with the agreement worked out with the prosecutor."
