The Blackfoot Community Dinner Table (CDT) hosted its annual Thanksgiving Day dinner Thursday from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Jason Lee United Methodist Church. More than 200 people were fed. "This was the fifth consecutive year that the CDT is hosting a Thanksgiving Day dinner," said Lee Hammett, board member. “We will be the only group hosting a community dinner on Thanksgiving Day in either Bingham or Bannock County.” More than 50 volunteers from the CDT Board and the community will be serving the traditional dinner, according to Hemmett’s wife, Debbie. "Everyone was welcome," she said. "If there are shut-ins, then we will deliver Thanksgiving dinners to them. This is one of the most wonderful events you could attend. We are grateful for the service our volunteers give." Gary and Linda Larsen will be also volunteering all day tomorrow preparing the meal. “We are happy to serve,” Linda said. "This is our first time volunteering on Thanksgiving and we love to help any way we can."
The dinner was sponsored by the CDT Board of Directors.
