Preston 'Keith' Tarpley, 49

Preston “Keith” Tarpley, 49, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, Aug.3 0, 2012 in a valiant rescue attempt.
Keith was born July 23, 1963 in Auburn, Calif., to Jimmy Wade Tarpley and Carrie Judith Thomas Fayle.  He lived many places, including Applegate, Calif.,; and Medicine Lodge, Dubois, Post Falls, Blackfoot and Sandpoint.  He graduated from Blackfoot High School.
On April 11, 1981. Keith married Ellen Harris. his high school sweetheart. in Blackfoot.  Together they had three children, Anisha Jo, Tyler and Kyle.
Keith was a cowboy, farmer, trucker, carpenter, equipment operator, musician, Harley biker, and recently was working with Sunroc as an operator, and was so very proud to be a part of the crew.  He was also a member of the Blackfoot Elks Lodge, the Local Carpenter Union 808, the Operators Union Local 370 and was a volunteer EMT. 
In his free time he enjoyed playing the bass guitar in the band HiWay 91, jet boat rides, family barbeques, hunting, fishing, camping and Harley rides.  His greatest joy was his family.  He cherished the time he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.  He had many extended children that he considered his own and had more friends than Santa Claus.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen of Blackfoot; sons, Preston Tyler (Caitlyn) and Kyle Wray, both of Blackfoot; daughter, Anisha Jo (Matthew) Hoggan of  Medicine Lodge; parents, Jimmy Wade Tarpley of  Dubois and Carrie Judith (Dale) Thomas Fayle of Pocatello; brother, Jimmy Mitchell Tarpley of Dubois; sisters, Lynnda Tarpley of  Roberts and Tawna Ellis of Pocatello; three grandchildren, Kaelin Rae Walton, Porter Berrett Walton and Mattie Jo Hoggan; and grandmother, Evlyn Boyer of California.
Keith was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Jackie Poulson; grandparents, B.T. Thomas, Claude Tarpley and Lucille Tarpley; his father and mother-in-law, Earl and Merle Harris; uncles, Mickey Tarpley, Preston Tarpley and Eddy Porter.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot.  Family will meet with friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services on Thursday. 
Interment will follow at the Groveland Cemetery.
