Registration open for Blackfoot Triathalon

BLACKFOOT — Registration is now open for the Blackfoot Triathlon.
The event, a part of Blackfoot Pride Days, will be on July 21. It will begin at 8 a.m. Participants will bike five kilometers at the greenbelt, bicycle 20 kilometers around Jensen Grove and swim 750 meters in Jensen Grove Lake.
"This year we'll have chip timing and the T-shirts we give will be a lot nicer," said race director Kathy Tauscher. Fees are $42 until the close of online registration on July 16. They will be $47 the day of the race.
"Last year 75 people participated," Tauscher said.
Although the event is part of Pride Days, it will be separated from the remainder of activities because of safety concerns.
"We plan to always have it on the third weekend in July," said Tauscher. She added that organizers hoped to have the event certified by next year.
