Rhoda Virginia Keele, 75, of Pingree, passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 at her home following a struggle with cancer.
She was born May 24, 1936 along with twin brother, Robert,Â in Pocatello to Ray Parkinson and Lexie Sundstrom.
She grew up in Tyhee and Riverside and graduated from Blackfoot High School.
Rhoda married Robert Roddam and they were later divorced. Forty years ago on July 17, 1971, she married Ronald Blain Keele. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.Â They lived in Blackfoot for a short time before moving to Pingree.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in the Primary, Relief Society and on a mission at the Bishopâ€™s Storehouse.
Rhoda enjoyed cooking, needlework and puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Keele of Pingree; son, Micheal (Cindy) Roddam of Provo, Utah; daughter, Kristine (Allen, deceased) Saxton of Pingree; stepchildren, Layne (Sally) Keele of Dayton, Roger (DeAnn) Stott of Blackfoot and Roxann (Ed) Phillips of Idaho Falls;Â brothers, Robert (Diane) Parkinson and James M. (Laverne) Parkinson, both of of Blackfoot; sisters, Etta Hill of Blackfoot and Phyllis (Don) Morgan of Pocatello; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald Bentley, Royal Parkinson, sister, Faye Hoehn and son-in-law, Allen.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 at the Pingree 2nd Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Stacy Jackson conducting.
The family will meet with friends on Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, and for one hour prior to the service at the Pingree church.
Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
