Robert Don (Bob) Jones, 70, of Boise died peacefully on Jan. 18, 2013 of complications due to leukemia.
Robert was born Dec. 31. 1942 in Woodland, Utah to Don P and June Jones. In 1954 the family, which eventually totaled 4 boys and 4 girls, moved to Moreland. He graduated from Snake River High School in 1961. He then served as a missionary in the Eastern States Mission. In 1965 he was drafted into the Army during Vietnam.
In 1970 he married Sheila Adams of Blackfoot. They raised 4 wonderful children: Andrea, RaNae, Jason, and Justin. Professionally, Robert was a salesman. Amongst many things, he owned and operated Boise Equipment Sales for many years before turning to the sale of recreational vehicles. He was born to sell and loved people.
He was a man of many talents. He loved to sing, race snowmobiles, hunt big game, dance, play softball and basketball, tend a large garden, camp and philosophize on the finer points of life.
He served faithfully as a member of the LDS Church and in many callings, finding particular joy during his long tenure as the Young Men’s president.
Throughout his life he defined himself by his optimism and excellent sense of humor. Up to his last moments he was making others laugh. He was a wonderful husband, a kind and caring father and grandfather. He was wholly devoted to his family. Loved ones surrounded him as he passed on. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. We express profound gratitude to the staff of the VA Hospital for their exceptional care.
Services will be held at Relyea Funeral Home in Boise. Viewing on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 7-9 p.m., with another viewing at 10 a.m. Jan. 25 prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the LDS chapel at 2650 South Five Mile Rd, Boise.
