Robert Howard Young Jr., 60
Robert Howard Young Jr., 60, of McCammon passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at his home after a valiant battle with cancer.
Robert was born March 25, 1953 in Murray, Utah to Robert Howard Young Sr. and Agnes “Yvonne” Kirby. He attended grade school and junior high in Ogden, Utah and then to Illinois, attending two high schools north of Chicago.
He lived in Southern California, met his first wife and had children there. He lived in Utah, Idaho and the last 20 years in McCammon.
On March 23, 2006 Robert married Marilyn Gay Wooton in McCammon. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 24, 2012.
Robert was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Sunday School presidency for many years, was secretary of the High Priest group, home teacher and a Primary teacher. He was a Cubmaster in the Boy Scouts of America.
Robert worked for many years as a finish carpenter and built homes years ago. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed making jewelry and fly tying.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Wootton, formerly of Firth; children, Shawn (Sara) Young of Pocatello; Scott (Jenn) Young of Pocatello; Christy (Tom) Loy of Syracuse, Utah; Kurt (Shayley) Young of Downey; Shane Young of Pocatello; stepchildren, Rachel (Reed) Aughney-Clawson of Grand Junction, Colo.. Jeff (Stacey) Aughney of Memphis, Tenn.; Michael (Lori) Aughney of Common Wealth of Dominica, Caribbean; Sara Anghney of Winter Park, Fla. and Scott Aughney of Pocatello; mother, Agnes “Yvonne” Young of St. George, Utah; brothers, David (Mary Jo) Young of Lehi, Utah and Gary Young of St. George, Utah; sister, Tana (David) Segler of Laverkin, Utah; and 19 grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Robert Howard Young Sr; and one granddaughter, Bailey; and his beloved friend, David Bennett.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at McCammon Mt. View LDS Ward Stake Center, 403 W. 16th Street. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church.
