Roberta Emogene Johnston, 84
Roberta Emogene Johnston, 84, passed from this life to the next on Oct. 6, 2011 in her home in Blackfoot with her family at her side.
She was born on July 7, 1927 in Page, Okla., the only daughter of Cleon and William Hollingback.
She graduated from Pocatello High in 1945, and continued her education at Utah State University for one year, and always found ways to continue to learn.
She and her husband, Paul Emigh Johnston Jr. were married Feb. 19, 1950 in Meridian. Together they raised four children, Paul III, Mark, Teresa, and Kevin.
She enjoyed the many places they lived including 25 years in Kalispell, Mont., 20 years in Boise and 11 years in Blackfoot.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings in the church, including Relief Society president, Young Women’s president and teacher, and taught in many positions. She followed her feelings for others, giving and receiving love all her life. She personified the pure love of Christ. Many thought to call her mother.
She loved to cook and gathered recipes from everyone and everywhere. Her family was always her priority. She relished a special moment when she and her husband were sealed to their children in the Cardston, Alberta Temple for time and all eternity.
She was outgoing, always smiling and a marvel at remembering people’s names. She will be missed.
She was survived by her husband of 61 years, Paul Emigh Johnston Jr.; her children, Paul III (Marilyn) Johnston of American Fork, Utah; R. Mark (Tami) Johnston of Boise; Teresa (Kevin) Martinsen of Blackfoot; and Kevin Eric (Cathy) Johnston of Auburn, Calif.; her brother, Dolan (Elizabeth) Keeney of Boise; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
