Roland Don Winberg, 75, of Blackfoot passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Pocatello Care and Rehabilitation Center in Pocatello.
Roland was born March 8, 1937 in Murray, Utah to Carl Einer Winberg and Helen Annie Pieper. He received his education in the Salt Lake area, living in the Blackfoot area since 1969.
Roland served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a medic.
On Oct. 13, 1967 Roland married Carolyn Shelton in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Roland farmed all his life, farming in the McDonaldville area. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge.
Roland had a strong belief in God and attended church faithfully. He enjoyed his farm and being around animals, working on his cars, listening to his music and being with his family.
He is survived by his children, Scott Winberg of Twin Falls, Don (Karlien) Winberg of Blackfoot and JoAnn Winberg of Woodbridge, New Jersey; brothers, Richard Winberg of Aberdeen and Ralph Winberg of Riverton, Utah; and eight grandchildren.
Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; parents, Carl and Helen; brother, Ross Winberg; and sister, Ruth Peperakis.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot. Family will meet with friends and relatives on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and for one hour prior to services on Saturday.
